Snap the punch cards. Get the payroll hours.
For owners who still run a punch clock or paper timesheets. Photograph the week’s cards on your phone. TimecardSnap reads every punch, works out overtime, California’s daily rules included, and hands you a file for Gusto, ADP, Paychex or QuickBooks.
No card needed for the free plan. Works with uPunch, Pyramid, Amano, Lathem, Acroprint and handwritten sheets.

Monday payroll in three steps
Photograph the cards
Lay each card flat and take a photo. Ten cards take about a minute. Your employees don’t install anything.
Check what it read
Every punch sits next to the photo it came from. Anything smudged, missing or written without AM/PM is highlighted for you to confirm.
Send hours to payroll
Download regular, overtime and double-time hours for Gusto, ADP RUN, Paychex Flex or QuickBooks Desktop, or print a signed summary.
Overtime worked out the way the law counts it
Pick federal rules or California rules once, in settings. Every card is calculated the same way, every week.
- Overtime after 40 hours in your workweek, starting on the day you choose.
- California: overtime after 8 hours in a day, double time after 12.
- California: the 7th day in a row is overtime from the first hour.
- California: flags shifts with no 30-minute meal break by the 5th hour, and adds the hour of premium pay.
- Rounding to the nearest 5, 6 or 15 minutes (the 7-minute rule), or exact minutes.
- Automatic lunch deduction for crews who don’t punch out for lunch.
- Overnight shifts count on the day they started.
- Missing punches are called out by name and day, never guessed.

Questions owners ask
- Which time clocks does it read?
- Cards from uPunch, Pyramid, Amano, Lathem, Acroprint, Icon and most other punch clocks, plus handwritten timesheets in any layout. Red late punches and crossed-out corrections are read too.
- What if it reads a time wrong?
- Nothing goes to payroll until you’ve looked at the card. You see the photo next to the times, the doubtful ones are highlighted, and you can change any time with one tap.
- Does it run payroll for me?
- No. It gives you the hours, the overtime and a file your payroll service imports. You keep the payroll service you already use.
- Do my employees need to do anything different?
- No. They keep punching the clock or filling in their sheets. You just photograph the cards instead of adding them up.
- Who sees the card photos?
- Only people logged in to your account. Photos are sent to our card-reading service to be read and are never sold or shared. See the privacy policy.
